INDIANAPOLIS – The Greyhound men's soccer team closed out their regular season home schedule on Sunday afternoon, suffering a 2-1 overtime loss at the hands of the Lewis Flyers.

UIndy tied the game midway through the second half, but succumbed to a perfect shot in overtime, suffering their first defeat of the year in extra time, 2-1.

GAME CHANGER
With just a little more than five minutes to play in overtime, Lewis' Mumen Hussein took a through pass from Wesley Wong, broke down the right wing and place a perfect shot over the outstretched arms of UIndy goalkeeper Chris Jones under the crossbar for the golden goal.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-UIndy got the equalizer in the 67th minute when Benjamin Sierra sent a crossing feed from the right side of the 18-yard box to the back post. Waiting for the feed was Javier Steinwascher, who slipped behind the Lewis defense and headed the ball into the back of the net for his fourth tally of the year.

-Lewis struck first on a set play in the 25th minute. Just after Jones made a fantastic sprawling save to keep a Nico Mueller header out of the net, Mueller headed home a crossing feed off the ensuing corner kick for his seventh goal of the year.

-The Greyhounds had a pair of golden opportunities to even the game up in the first half, but were denied by a matter of inches. The first came when Josh Ling rang a 20-yard free kick off the crossbar in the 30th minute and the second came in the 43rd minute when Mase Koki's attempt in tight was kicked aside by Lewis goalkeeper Philip Huang.

-Final shot attempts were 13-12 in favor of the Flyers. Jones made three saves in his first start since Sept. 9.

-Prior to the match, the Greyhound men's soccer program recognized seniors Jones, Evan Smith, Casey Zimmerman and Jake Meyer in what would be their final home contest.

-The Greyhounds enter the final week of the regular season in seventh place in the GLVC and can punch their ticket to the conference tournament with a win in their next match.
