THE FINAL WHISTLE
Final: UIndy 3 – Saint Joseph's 2
Records: UIndy 8-5-4 (5-5-4 GLVC) | Saint Joseph's 2-15 (2-13 GLVC)
Location: Minnielli Field – Rensselaer, Ind.

RENSSELAER, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis men's soccer team wrapped up a spot in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament on Wednesday night with a wild 3-2 win over Saint Joseph's College.

After falling in an early 1-0 hole, the Greyhounds responded with three unanswered goal. With the win, the Hounds earned a trip to the GLVC Men's Soccer Championship for the fourth consecutive year.

GAME CHANGER
Playing in his final regular season match, senior Jake Meyer netted the game-winning goal for the Greyhounds in the 47th minute. The Cincinnati, Ohio-native controlled the ball in the Puma zone where he unleashed a spin move to get by a defender before ripping a shot into the top right corner for his fifth goal of the year.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-Just 70 seconds after the Pumas grabbed a 1-0 lead, Javier Steinwascher evened things up with a rocket of a shot that beat Puma goalkeeper Adam Whybrow top left corner for his fifth goal of the year. Sophomore Jerrett Stark recorded his first career point with an assist on the goal.

-Late in the first half, Steinwascher had a hand in putting the Greyhounds in front, this time with an assist on James Jenkins' go-ahead goal. With less than two minutes to go before the half, Jenkins let a shot go across his body from 10 yards out that beat Whybrow to the far side.

Diego Coy Caicedo opened the scoring for the Pumas in the 18th minute and Charlie Mann cut the deficit to one 89 seconds after Meyer made it a 3-1 game.

Shots were 21-6 and shots on goal were 6-5, both in favor of the Greyhounds. UIndy goalkeeper Miles Palmer and the Pumas' Whybrow ended the game with three saves each.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach John Higgins: "We passed the ball really well tonight on a difficult playing surface and we were able to generate some really good scoring chances. We still have a couple of things we'd like to clean up but we're excited about getting into the conference tournament. All eight teams that are in have a realistic chance of winning the whole thing. We have great belief in ourselves even though our results this regular season have been a bit inconsistent."

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds locked down the No. 7 seed in the GLVC Championship with the win and will face either Rockhurst or Missouri S&T in the opening round this Sunday. Opponent and start time will be announced at a later date.
