Hawks strike twice in second half to send Greyhounds to 2-1 defeat

Final: UIndy 1 – Rockhurst 2
Records: UIndy 3-3-0 (2-2-0 GLVC) | Rockhurst 6-0-1 (3-0-1 GLVC)
Location: Key Stadium – Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team was in search of consecutive wins for the first time this year on Sunday when they took on Rockhurst University at Key Stadium.

The Greyhounds grabbed the lead early in the second half, but would succumb to a relentless Rockhurst attack. The Hawks finished the day with 24 total shots and potted two goals 14 minutes apart in the second half to emerge with a 2-1 win.

GAME CHANGER
With less than 15 minutes to go in the match, Rockhurst's Kristin Wolff had the ball in the 18-yard box and was hauled down by a UIndy defender, resulting in a penalty kick attempt. Wolff made no mistake with the one-on-one attempt, sticking the ball in the bottom left corner for the game-winning tally.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
After being held without a shot in the first half, the Hounds grabbed a 1-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the second half when Sierra Singer cut in front of a Rockhurst defender, stole a back pass and beat the goalkeeper for her fourth tally of the year.

The Hawks would answer on their 16th shot of the game when Courtney Silberberg re-directed a corner kick from Meghan Kilkenny for her fourth goal of the season. The goal came on the Hawks' 10th shot on goal of the match.

With the game all square at a goal each, Heather Roeder had an opportunity to put the Hounds back in front, but was turned aside by Rockhurst goalkeeper Ali Wallner with a diving save. It was Wallner's lone stop of the match.

Emma Crenshaw was brilliant between the pipes for UIndy, turning aside 12 Rockhurst shots on the afternoon. It marked the third time the Kansas City, Mo.-native notched double digit saves as a Greyhound.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach Holly Cox: "We got off to a slow start and never really recovered from it. Rockhurst brought the fight to us today and it could have been a lot worse than the final score. Credit to them, they're a really good team and they showed it today."

"It's absolutely huge to have someone like Emma in goal when you're playing with a young team. She was great positionally today and kept us in the game in the first half. She's the backbone of our team but we would like to not have to rely on her like this each game. We'll get back at it this week and be ready to go for the next game."

UP NEXT
UIndy heads back out on the road for each of their next two contests. The short road trip kicks off on Friday, Sept. 23, when the Hounds head to Lebanon, Mo. to take on the McKendree Bearcats. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. eastern time.
