Â
LEBANON, Ill. – The Greyhound men's soccer team hit the road on Friday night as they looked to get back in the win column against the McKendree Bearcats at Leemon Field.
Â
The Hounds turned in another quality performance, controlling the pace of play and dominating on the shot clock. However, the Hounds weren't able to put any of their five shots on goal into the net, settling for a scoreless draw to move to 3-2-2 overall and 1-2-2 in GLVC play.
Â
GAME CHANGER
McKendree put just two shots on net and none over the final 52:43. The Bearcats' last shot on goal came in the 54
th minute off the foot of Dylan Cassidy, but he was easily turned aside by Greyhounds' goalkeeper
Miles Palmer. Palmer lowered his goals against average to 0.42 and picked up his third clean sheet of the year on Friday.
Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Junior
David Kurz generated seven shots from the left back spot with three shots on target. The Großkarolinenfeld, Germany-native moved into a tie for the team lead in total shots (16) and now leads all Greyhounds with eight shots on target this year.
Â
Shots on the night were 15-9 in favor of UIndy. The Greyhounds also attempted six corner kicks to none for the Bearcats while being whistled for four offside infractions.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach John Higgins: "It was a really good performance by our guys tonight and we really knocked it around from the get-go. Again, we didn't capitalize on our early dominance and that could have changed things. The longer you go without a goal after playing that well, then you start to see them get back on their heels and put guys back in the box and that's what happened. But it's tough to go on the road in this league and our quality of play was really good tonight."
Â
"It's not like we've been getting off to slow starts, but we haven't been punishing teams when we've started off well. You go to most places on a Friday night and you're going to get the other team's best. So a draw isn't a bad result in this league, especially when you go on the road."
Â
"We can tell our guys are starting to get tense in the offensive zone and we've told them that they just need to relax and the goals will come. We've been good on set plays and we've been really technical in the offensive zone. We just need to stick with what we've been doing and being technical in the offensive end and sticking to our game plan."
