INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy volleyball team rallied back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the visiting William Jewell Cardinals on Saturday afternoon from Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. The Greyhounds cruised to the first-set victory, hitting .364 in the frame, but escaped the hole to win in five. The caps a perfect weekend with two wins, improving to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in GLVC matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rachel Irbe led UIndy in the first set, totaling five kills and six digs. The Greyhounds led from the beginning of the frame as they held the visiting Cardinals to .200 hitting.
Anna Fehribach was back among the leaders, recording four kills on .400 hitting.

The second set went back and forth between the teams before William Jewell won, 25-23. In total, the game saw eight tie scores and five lead changes, the last of which capped off a 6-4 run for the Cardinals. Fehribach added five more kills, but the team attacked at a mere .143 clip.

The middle frame mirrored the first set, but this time the visitors came out victorious to hold a 2-1 lead. The Cardinals hit .296 as a team with 15 kills, while the Greyhounds mustered just eight. UIndy had just four digs in the set, including zero from freshman libero
Olivia Martin.

For how exciting the second set proved to be, the fourth frame may have out-performed its even-set counterpart. UIndy and William Jewell were tied a massive 14 times, while the lead changed six instances. The Greyhounds used their strength of balance in the victory, with four players with at least three kills, while
Teigan Flaws added a pair.
Alyssa Spears and
Alexis Waugh combined for 14 assists in the set, while
Kailey Kleinert added another on the team's 15 kills.

UIndy led from the onset in the deciding frame, winning 15-8, on the heels of Irbe's four kills. The Greyhounds hit .467 as a team in the fifth set.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Irbe posted another double-double with 17 kills and 13 digs, her fifth of the season and the fourth time in the past six matches. She has reached double-digits in each category six times this season.

- Spears and Waugh each recorded one kill in the victory, the fifth time this season both primary setters have done so.

- Today was just the second five-set match of the season for the Greyhounds, reigning victorious in each of them. The previous time was at Wisconsin-Parkside when the Greyhounds and Rangers traded sets before UIndy took the deciding fifth frame.

UIndy will travel to Aurora, Ill. next weekend for the Mizuno Midwest Region Crossover to battle teams from the GLIAC and G-MAC. Â The Greyhounds will play three matches between Friday and Saturday with the matchups being determined early next week.Â
