ON TAP
The UIndy men's basketball team has won its first two games since dropping the opener to Northwood, and heads to Ashland, Ohio to battle its second pair of GLIAC schools. The Greyhounds will tip-off against the host Eagles on Tuesday at 5 p.m. before concluding the week with a matinee against Tiffin on Wednesday. Both games will be played at Sherrill Hudson Court on the campus of Ashland University.
A RENEWED HISTORY (VS. ASHLAND)
The Greyhounds and Eagles have played 36 contests dating back to 1980, with the latter winning 20 of those games. UIndy has won four of the last six games in the teams' history, but two of the past three. The schools took a 20-year break from competition on the hardwood, but have played three games since the start of the 2015-2016 season. The two Greyhound losses since then have been by an average of seven points, while the victory was by a commanding 17 tallies in the first round of the NCAA Midwest regional.Â
Last season the Hounds dropped its season opener to the Eagles, 70-64. DJ Davis paced the Hounds with 16 points , while
Jesse Kempson poured in 15 of his own. Kempson and
Tate Hall led the team with five rebounds.
Jimmy King and
Roderick Davis had nine and eight points, respectively.Â
A NEW CHAPTER (VS. TIFFIN)
UIndy and Tiffin have played just twice, each resulting in a Greyhound victory. The Hounds and Dragons did not schedule each other for the 2016-17 season, but battled each November in 2014 and 2015. Each win for the Hounds was by more than 20 points.
Â
Jordan Loyd and
Alex Etherington led the way for the Hounds with 25 and 20 points, respectively. Ernest Maize had a game-high 10 rebounds, while Lucas Barker led all players with four assists. UIndy forced 15 turnovers against Tiffin, while surrendering just 10 itself.
Â
LAST TIME OUT, VS. KENTUCKY STATE
Eric Davidson nailed eight three-pointers in the win, matching a career-high total that he last earned on January 12 and January 14, 2017. Overall he shot eight-for-12 from deep and 10-for-15 from the field for 28 points.
Â
CJ Hardaway Jr. had his best game as a Greyhound, securing a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. It was his first double-double since the regular-season finale in 2016-17 when he was a member of St. Joseph's College.

Three blocks by
Jesse Kempson is the most in a game for the junior since February 11, 2017 against Rockhurst. The Indy native is now up to four blocks on the season after setting a program record a year ago with 46.
Â
The Greyhounds' 29 bench points was the first time the team has led in the category this season. UIndy scored 40 from its bench players in the win over Saginaw Valley, but the Cardinals received 52 from its players. Kentucky State had 20 points off the bench on Wednesday.
Â
Ajay Lawton dished out seven assists on the night and is now averaging 5.3 per game through three contests. The Westfield native has now scored in double-figures in seven straight games dating back to last season.
KING DAVID(SON) OF THREE
Senior guard
Eric Davidson matched a career-high eight three-pointers last Wednesday in the win over Kentucky State. It was the third time the Fishers, Ind. native had done so, with the previous two times coming last season in consecutive games on January 12 and January 14. He was eight-for-12 against the Thorobreds and 10-for-15 from the field for 28 points. The senior is 11-for-17 from long range through three games this season.
SOPHOMORE SURGE
Through three games this season, sophomore
Tate Hall is averaging 10.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, and 1.0 apg, all higher numbers than he did as a rookie during the 2016-17 season that earned him GLVC Freshman of the Year honors. Hall is averaging over 20 minutes per contest and is 13-for-19 from the field, which includes a pair of three-pointers.Â
FIVE UP, FIVE DOWN
This week will conclude the non-GLVC-region portion of UIndy's schedule for the 2017-18 schedule. The Greyhounds will begin conference competition after Thanksgiving, but will play four non-conference non-region games before the new year. After three GLVC games, UIndy will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to battle the Indiana State Sycamores on December 9.
A PLETHORA OF POINTS
The Hounds have scored 100 or more points in consecutive games for the first time since November 23 and November 26, 2013 against Malone and Cincinnati-Clermont. The Hounds have scored at least 100 points against Ashland in the teams' history, but have only averaged 75 against the Dragons.Â
