Dani Turner, to defeat Division II Mississippi College, 6-2, on the second day of the Falcon Frenzy Saturday. Sophomore
Taylor Podschweit also went yard, helping lift the Greyhounds to their first win of 2017.
After going 3 for 7 with a homer and a double yesterday, Turner stayed hot with three more hits Saturday, Her first homer came on the very first at bat of the game. Hitting leadoff in Coach
Melissa Frost's lineup, the Evansville, Ind., native worked the count full before pulling a pitch over the left field fence and giving the Hounds the early lead.
After the Choctaws tied it in the bottom of the first, UIndy surged again with a two-run bomb from Podschweit in the fourth inning – her first career round-tripper. The drive also plated senior
Tayler Weck, who reached on a hit by pitch.
Turner launched her second solo shot of the game an inning later, chasing Lady Choctaw starter Penny Nichols and sparking a three-run rally. A

Natalie Lalich walk and a run-scoring double from Weck kept the pressure on before
Cathy Skaggs capped the scoring with an RBI groundout.
Freshman pitcher
Lauren Honkomp (1-1) garnered her first career victory in the circle. The Richmond, Ind., product tossed a seven-inning complete game, surrendering two runs and two walks while striking out two.
The Greyhounds conclude their time in Alabama with a pair of contests Sunday. They take on Lee at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed immediately by meeting with Shorter at 4:45 p.m. No live stats are scheduled at this time.
