HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 19 UIndy softball team ended its stay in the Nashville area with a split at the Music City Invitational Saturday. The Greyhounds (6-3) had a five-game winning streak snapped with a 4-2 loss to Montevallo in the morning, but rebounded with a 5-1 region win versus host Trevecca Nazarene in the afternoon. The 10-team event was held at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville, Tenn.

The Falcons (6-8) scored a run in the top of the first to take the lead and went on the score four unanswered runs to take control. Though she didn't give up an extra-base hit, UIndy starter Crystal (1-2) Sicard was charged with all four runs and was chased after three-plus innings.
Â
Fellow-freshman
Lindsey Bowers made her collegiate debut by relieving Sicard in the fourth. Bowers finished the game with four scoreless frames, giving up three hits and a walk while striking out two.
Â
The UIndy offensive plated single runs in the fourth and sixth frames but did not hang any crooked numbers on the board. Senior
Natalie Lalich scored junior
Jessie Noone with an RBI single in the fourth, while senior
Tayler Weck's sac fly in the sixth plated
Dani Turner for the game's final run.

Freshman
Lauren Honkomp (5-1) continued to impress in the circle. The Richmond, Ind., native, who also added an RBI single at the plate, won her fifth straight decision with a complete-game five-hitter against a Trojan team that advanced to the NCAA regional final last spring. The only run allowed was an unearned tally in the fifth.
Â
The Greyhound lineup got a combined nine hits from its top-three spots. Â Leadoff hitter and senior-transfer
Dani Turner remained hot with a pair of singles on the afternoon, upping her on-base percentage to .528 on the season.
Â
Senior
Katie Kelly and Noone each had three safeties, including Noone's RBI double in the first inning. Sophomore first baseman
Rachel Vander Wagon added a double and a single, while newcomer
Julia Liceaga hit her first home run as a Greyhound with a two-run shot in the second.
Up next for UIndy is a trip to Evansville, Ind., for the
Midwest Region Crossover Feb. 25-26.
