CLERMONT, Fla. – The 19th-ranked UIndy softball team (10-4) kicked off its annual Spring Break trip to Florida by handing Division II Saint Anselm College a 7-1 defeat in the opening game of the PFX Spring Games. The contest marks the first of nine games in six days for the Greyhounds.

UIndy jumped out to a quick four-run lead through the first two innings. In fact, Eagle starter Morgan Perry was chased before recording a single out. The first five Greyhounds reached , including three straight via a walk, with
Natalie Lalich's RBI single spelling the end of Perry's day.

She was relieved by Sam Hennequin, who promptly struck out the side to end the initial threat. However, the Hounds piled on with two more runs in the second and single tallies in the fourth, sixth and seventh.

The action included three solo home runs, one each by
Julia Liceaga,
Dani Turner and Lalich. Turner's blast marked her team-leading seventh of the season.

Freshman pitcher
Lauren Honkomp (8-1) continued her win streak in the circle, scattering eight hits while walking one and allowing just one run in six innings of work. She has now won eight consecutive decisions.

Crystal Sicard tossed a scoreless seventh inning.

UIndy is just getting started in the Sunshine State. The Hounds take on a pair of opponents tomorrow, facing Fairmont State at 8 a.m. Concord University at 10:30 a.m.
