With the score still tied at 0-0 through five complete, sophomore third baseman Taylor Podschweit delivered a two-out triple in the top of the sixth, scoring senior Tayler Weck with the game winner. The inning started with a leadoff single by Dani Turner, but Parkside starter Allison Hausl induced a ground-ball double play to appeared out of trouble. However, the latter proceeded to walk four of the next five batters, sandwiching Podschweit's three-bagger with the four fatal free passes.

Meanwhile, UIndy freshman pitcher Lauren Honkomp (18-1) fired a three hitter on the way to her 18th consecutive winning decision. The rookie hurler fanned seven and walked only one in her first career shutout.
