Diving Crown Themselves with Another Record at DSU Invite

CLEVELAND, MS – As the swimmers competed at IUPUI's House of Champions Invitational, the divers traveled down to Cleveland, Missouri to compete in the Delta State Invite. This is the second year in a row that the divers have gone to this midseason dual, and they looked to repeat similar success like last season. Overall, the men swept both boards, and the women claimed a victory on one of the two boards.

Payton Staman kicked things off with a record-setting performance, as he scored 575.6 points overall on the one-meter final. Staman will own the top UIndy score on one-meter for eleven dives. Payton also secured his name on the records on one-meter for six dives. Staman's voluntary score on the board added up to a total of 370 points, smashing the previous UIndy record.

Josh Zylstra was right behind Staman in the scoresheet, as he placed second overall in the event on a score of 504.95 points. Freshman Ben Radar scored 463.55 points, giving himself a fourth place finish in the event. All three boys scored national qualifying times for the NCAA Prequalification meet in March. Casey Crawford came in and scored a total of 288.3 points, giving him a seventh place finish in the event.

Cassie Kury came out and led the Greyhound women on the one-meter board for eleven dives. Her final score of 381.8 points secured her a second place finish overall in the event. Ashley Clevenger was the other Greyhound to compete in the women's event, as she total up to 257.9 points after her set of dives.

Zylstra stole the show in the men's three-meter for eleven dives, as he cruised into a first place finish in the event for 535.65 points. Staman came in right behind him for second, as his total came out to be 517.85 points in the event. Staman and Zylstra's scores were over the NCAA Prequalification standard. Radar came through with another good set of dives, as he gave the Greyhounds 409.25 points for his fifth place finish. Casey Crawford gave himself a boost in points on the board, as he gained a grand total of 302.65 overall.

Kury once again led the way for the Greyhounds on the three-meter board for eleven dives. She gained a victory on the board with her grand total, as she garnered 462.65 points overall. The total drove Kury past the NCAA Prequalification standard, where she'll dive in the event in March.

The Greyhound divers will be back in action with their swimmer teammates as one team on December 14th, where the women will face off against Indiana Wesleyan. The men will kick off a second Intrasquad meet of the year before heading off to Christmas break. The meet will commence at 5:00 PM EST.
