Drury, Benoit, Sowa all score 20 each in rout of Purdue Northwest

HAMMOND, Ind. – After having a week off since their last game, the UIndy women's basketball team was back in action today. The Hounds traveled to Purdue Northwest for the first time to face the Pride for only the second all-time meeting between the two teams. The Hounds avenged last year's loss Purdue Northwest, taking down the Pride 93-62 on their home floor.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pride started strong, leading by as much as six in the first five minutes of the game. UIndy collected themselves and started locking down on defense and settling into their offense. Emma Benoit made back-to-back layups for the Hounds to give UIndy the lead. Purdue Northwest took the lead back, but Katie Sowa drained her first three of the game and the Hounds did not look back from there. The Hounds did not trail after Sowa' three and pulled away in the second quarter. The Hounds outscored the Pride 28-7 in the second quarter, shooting 55.9% from the field in the half. The Hounds stood tall defensively and did not allow the Pride any easy opportunities, forcing 10 PNW turnovers and holding them to 27.3% shooting.

UIndy kept up the tempo in the second half that they established in the second quarter. The Hounds led by as much as 38 in the third quarter, while key contributors still saw minutes in the game. Coach Wodrich looked to the bench in the fourth quarter with the game in complete control. Liz Alsot, Katie Sowa, and Alexa Bailey all played a good amount of minutes for Wodrich in the fourth quarter. Benoit came in around the halfway point of the fourth quarter, pulled in a rebound for her second-straight double-double (third of the season) and put the ball right back up for her 22nd points of the day. UIndy finished off the Pride 93-62 in Hammond.
