INDIANAPOLIS - The #24 University of Indianapolis Greyhounds grabbed their first win of the season on Saturday, routing the visiting Rockhurst Hawks, 20-6.
The Hounds scored the first seven goals of the game with six different Hounds finding the net. The Hawks responded with a pair of goals to cut the deficit, but
Lauryn Hardoy and
Grace Gunneson both scored their second goals as the first half wound down and the Hounds took a 9-3 lead to halftime.
The second half saw more of the same as the Greyhounds scored seven unanswered goals to start the period. Hardoy completed her hat trick, as did Gunneson and
Abigail Lagos as the Hounds took a commanding 16-3 lead, cruising to a 20-6 win.
Goalkeeper
Lauren Granville led the Hounds from the back, conceding just three goals while making four saves for her second straight game with a save percentage above 50% (57.1%).
Riley McClure led the Hounds with four ground balls.
Thirteen different Hounds scored in the game, including Lagos, Gunneson and Hardoy's hat tricks as well as a pair of goals for
Erika Mayette.
The Hounds outshot the Hawks 39-13, putting 24 shots on target. The Hounds won 18 draws to the Hawks' eight.
The Hounds will host the No. 9 Regis Rangers on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Key Stadium.
