WESTFIELD, Ind. - The UIndy softball team (10-4) earned a sweep on Monday afternoon at Grand Park, shutting out Ferris State for its second win in as many games against the Bulldogs and coming back to defeat Ohio Dominican in the finale.

Freshman
Halie Waters never let the Bulldog offense get comfortable, striking out 10 to earn the complete-game shutout victory. The righty allowed just four hits and issued one walk to comfortably lead the Greyhounds to victory.Â
UIndy scored early and often in the opener,
Taylor Podschweit singled ahead of
Taylor Danielson's inside-the-park homer, the first four-bagger of the season for the Hounds. Leading 3-0 in the fifth inning,
Brooke Montgomery gave Waters some insurance with an run-scoring single. Podschweit added another deuce to the scoreboard in the top of the seventh, doubling home Montgomery and
Cathy Skaggs.Â
Waters lowered her season ERA to 2.71 with the shutout in her first outing to last longer than 3.1 innings. It was the fourth game in a row, and fifth in seven contests, that Mongtomery drove in a run after not recording an RBI in the first six games of the season.Â

Trailing 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Greyhounds exploded for five runs to take their first lead of the game. The rally featured five consecutive base hits, all coming with two outs. Freshmen Montgomery and Danielson were at it again, providing the pop with each notching a triple after finding a gap in the spacious Grand Park outfield.
Gianni Iannantone drove in what would prove to be the game-winner, before Skaggs singled to shortstop to give UIndy its sixth run.Â
The Panthers failed to go quietly, however, loading the bases with nobody gone in the seventh. Starter
Lauren Honkomp re-entered to save the game, striking out her first batter before allowing an inherited runner to score. The sophomore then forced a grounder to third to close out the game with the 6-4 victory.Â
Katelyn Fisher earned the victory after providing 2.1 innings of relief, allowing just two hits and one run. Iannantone doubled her RBI total with her three knocked in against the Panthers, while
Hanna Burris,
Jessie Noone, and Skaggs each recording multi-hit efforts.Â
UIndy is not scheduled to play again until March 9, when it will host Drury for a doubleheader at Baumgartner Field.Â
