The women's tennis team added another victory to their record today, this time a 6-2 win over Butler University. The win moved the Greyhounds to 2-0, with both wins against Division I opponents.
In doubles, Pam Brito Torres's and Mara Hofstetter's match against Butler's Emily New and Lauren Marx went unfinished, but UIndy pulled through with the other two wins. Hanna Volikova and Alina Kislitskaya defeated Bailey Padgett and Jordan Minnick 6-2. Doubles partners Chloe Weihs and Florence Renard added a 6-3 win to the score.
The Greyhounds earned another four wins in singles competition. Volikova added another victory to here record, this time a 6-4, 6-2 win over Bailey Padgett. Renard's match was held to two sets, as she beat Rachel Sutton 6-3, 6-2. Hofstetter also defeated her opponent, Lauren Marx, 6-3, 6-2. In number three singles, Kislitskaya's match went to three sets, but she walked away with the win. She won her first set 6-4, but took a 5-7 loss in the second. Kislitskaya then bounded back to take the tiebreaker 10-6.
The 10th ranked Greyhounds will take on Bowling Green and Eastern Illinois this weekend at the UIndy Tennis Center. Up first is Bowling Green on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 3 p.m., and then they will face-off against Eastern Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 11 at noon.
