LAS VEGAS - The UIndy men's tennis team closed out its spring break with a win over No. 23 St. Mary's, securing a 7-2Â triumph at Darling Tennis Center.
The Hounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles, with Nils Hoffacker and Dario Huber easing to a win over third-ranked James Weatherhead and Luis Bonilla. The combination of Renato Lima and Andrea Morlet secured their win over Jeremiah Gonzalez and Bojan Popovic, 8-6, while Mangus Mueller and Christoph Drechsler needed extra sets to defeat Jose Antelo and Brendan Brown.Â
St. Mary's won No. 1 and No. 6 singles, but the 11th-ranked Hounds controlled the No. 2 through No. 5 singles to control the outcome. No. 45 Huber finished first among singles, while Mueller only needed a couple sets to also finish quickly. No. 20 Drechsler won 6-4 in both sets to secure the victory,  while Hoffacker and Videau each dropped a three-set match.Â
The Greyhounds host No. 23 Southwest Baptist this coming Wednesday from the UIndy Tennis Center. It is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
