Greyhounds earn 14-4 win in Wednesday matinee

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's lacrosse (4-3, 2-1 GLVC) celebrated hump day with a convincing 14-4 conference win against visiting Alabama Huntville Wednesday afternoon. With the field covered in snow prior to a pre-game plow, freshman Matt Schoeneck led the Hounds with a season-high five points while junior Matthew Johnson also recorded a hat trick.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Chargers (6-3, 1-1), who came into the day without a conference loss, got on the board first with a goal from sophomore Jack Utrevis three-and-a-half minutes in. But the Hounds surged with eight of the game's next nine tallies to build a sizable 8-2 lead at the half.

Johnson scored all three of his goals in the second quarter, while the entire Charger roster combined for zero shots in the decisive period.

UIndy continued to impose its will in the second half, dominating time of possession and outscoring their guests 6-2 in the final 30 minutes. Schoeneck scored his second goal of the day in the third quarter and added one more in the fourth.

Junior Jarod Kimble earned the win in goal, allowing three goals on nine shots in 45 minutes in the crease. Freshman Austin Barnett finished the game in goal after taking over to start the fourth.

Shawn Kimble, Max Gerhardt and Kenny Keyes all shared a game high with five ground balls, while Max Groves led the Hounds with three caused turnovers.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Greyhounds out-shot the Chargers a staggering 48-18 on the day, including a 28-7 advantage in shots on goal.
- UIndy forced 20 UAH turnovers, matching a season high.
- A total of nine Hounds scored at least one goal.
- Junior Cyle Moskowitz took the majority of the face-offs for the Hounds, winning 8 of 12 attempts.
