UIndy 5, USI 2
In the opener of a twin bill originally scheduled to be played in Indy, the Hounds fell behind 1-0 in the first inning until junior
Shannon Schuetz erased the deficit with one swing one frame later. Already having hit two grand slams in the previous four contests, Schuetz delivered a three-run bomb in the second to give the Greyhounds a lead they would not relinquish.
Â
UIndy tacked on two run runs via the long ball, as senior
Jessie Noone and freshman
Taylor Danielson added solo shots in the fifth and sixth inning, respectively.
Â
Sophomore pitcher
Lauren Honkomp (9-2) went four-plus innings to earn the win. Freshman
Halie Waters struck out five over the final two and two-thirds to notch the save.

UIndy 8, USI 1
The Greyhounds plated all eight runs in what was an epic fourth inning. UIndy sent 11 batters to the dish in the decisive frame, compiling five hits and three walks. The highlights included a two-run double from
Cathy Skaggs and a punctuating grand slam by
Taylor Podschweit – the first of her career.
Â
Meanwhile, freshman pitcher
Haylie Foster (9-1) tamed the Eagle offense, allowing just one run while scattering eight hits over six-and-a-third innings. Waters came on to finish the game once again, getting the final two outs via strikeout.
