INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's lacrosse team (5-4, 2-1 GLVC) earned a convincing 12-2 win versus visiting Montevallo Saturday afternoon at Key Stadium. The Greyhounds held the Falcons (6-5, 0-2) scoreless for nearly three full quarters to start the game and went on to force 30 turnovers – most by a UIndy opponent in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds overwhelmed the first-year program from the get-go. UIndy orchestrated an early offensive barrage that resulted in a 7-0 lead after the first quarter. Junior
Parker Kump led the onslaught, as the took the Surrey, British Columbia native less than 11 minutes to earn a hat trick. He ultimately finished with a game-high five goals on 13 shots.

The Hounds would go on to score the game's first 10 goals, as Montevallo did not find the back of the net until very late in the third quarter.

With Kump scoring the bulk of the goals, the remaining seven UIndy scores were spread out between seven different players.

Meanwhile, senior
Max Groves finished with six ground balls and a season-high six caused turnovers.

HOUND BYTES
"I thought we played really well right from the opening whistle," said Head Coach
Greg Stocks, "and that's something that we were able to parlay into a good game. We definitely slowed down a bit and didn't have the second half that we hoped, but we got out to a real good start, and it started with the defense making stops and the offense shooting well.

"Defense across the board played really well. The close defense played well.
Max Groves did an excellent job picking up ground balls on face-offs and then in the open field causing turnovers in the ride."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Greyhounds more than doubled the Falcons' ground ball total and more than tripled their number of shot attempts.
- Freshman
Austin Barnett got the start in the crease, earning four saves and allowing zero goals in 30 minutes of play.
- UIndy totaled 22 caused turnovers, with five Hounds getting credit for at least two. Junior
Connor Swanger amassed four caused turnovers while adding three ground balls.
