INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy baseball team improved to 7-2 on the 2018 season with a pair of wins over Oakland City on Sunday afternoon. The Greyhounds trailed 2-0 through four-and-a-half innings in game one before busting a four-spot and cruising to the 7-3 victory. It was all UIndy in the night cap, dropping the Mighty Oaks, 11-1.Â
Nick Miller had another strong day for the Hounds, totaling four hits in seven at-bats, including two doubles. Orloff had two hits in the second game, as
Will Smithey drove in three.
Tyler Hosto threw six strong innings in game one, allowing one earned run over four hits and one free pass, while
Michael Schalasky struck out six in his five innings of work in game two.Â

The Mighty Oaks took advantage of a Greyhound error in the top of the second to manufacture their first and only lead of the day. Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Hounds shook off the rust and scored five. Orloff plated
Storm Joop with a sacrifice fly, who was hit by a pitch to begin the frame. After Miller tied the game with a single, another pair crossed home when
Joe Kenney snuck a grounder past the OCU shortstop.Â
The Greyhounds tacked on three more after a Mighty Oaks run in the top of the sixth, thanks to extra-base knocks by Miller and Smithey.
Dylan Stutsman worked around trouble in his inning of work in the seventh, inducing three ground outs.Â

The Crimson and Grey kept the foot on the gas in game two, punctuated by a Joop lead-off goner before Miller and Smithey forced
Macy Holdsworth, Orloff, and
Dylan Jones to score in the first to lead 4-0. After the Mighty Oaks scored one in the fourth, the Greyhounds added three more. Orloff singled home Kenney with two outs, then Holdsworth scored on a wild pitch that gave Jones first base. Jones immediately stole second, forcing an OCU error that allowed Orloff to be greeted by his teammates with high-fives.
Devon Hensley doubled and came around to score in the first of a pair of two-run innings, which saw Smithey also double home two tallies in the sixth that made it 11-1.Â
Christian Beard and
Chris Boettcher combined for two shutout innings of ball to close out the contest, striking out two opposing hitters between the righties.Â
The Greyhounds have a four-game set with Truman this coming weekend in Kirksville, Mo. The teams will play one game on Friday and Sunday, and are scheduled to sandwich in a doubleheader on Saturday at Bulldog Baseball Park. First pitch on Friday will be at 2 p.m.
