COLUMBUS, Ohio – The UIndy softball team (28-10) ventured out of conference Wednesday, traveling to Ohio Dominican University for a doubleheader. The in-region Panthers (20-15) escaped with a pair of one-run victories versus the No. 15 Greyhounds.

GAME 1 | ODU 1, UIndy 0
The game's lone run was an unearned tally in the bottom of the fourth. Starter
Lauren Honkomp (10-5) retired the first two batters of the frame but the third reached on a Greyhound fielding error. Back-to-back singles followed, the latter of which plated pinch runner Audry Rolon with what held up as the game winner.
Â
Meanwhile, the Hounds managed just two hits off ODU starter Abby Lamping (8-6). Freshmen
Brooke Montgomery and
Gianni Iannantone each had a single, while junior
Taylor Podschweit added a walk and a stolen base.

GAME 2 | ODU 3, UIndy 2
Ohio Dominican put the pressure on early with two runs in the bottom of the first on three singles, a walk and an error.
Â
The Greyhounds knotted it up in the third when Iannantone delivered a two-out, two-run single to score Montgomery and
Jessie Noone. But a solo home run from ODU in the fifth proved to be the difference.
Â
Montgomery later doubled in the seventh to put the tying run in scoring position, but she was ultimately stranded.
Â
Reliever
Halie Waters took the loss in the circle. She came on in the first to defuse a base-loaded situation and pitched the final 5 1/3 innings and gave up only one run.
