Hounds snap win streak at #20 Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In its final tune-up before the GLVC Tournament, the UIndy men's lacrosse team (7-5) went out ot conference to fall 12-8 at 20th-ranked Rockhurst Saturday afternoon. The result marked the end of a three-game winning streak for the Greyhounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After battling to a 2-2 tie through the first 15 minutes, the Hawks (14-2) surged with five unanswered goals in the second quarter. Senior Sam Horning scored both of his goals in the first quarter to tie it up, but Rockhurst managed to build a 7-2 advantage at the half.

The Hounds fought back to make it a one-goal game, however, holding their hosts to just a single score in the opening 17-plus minutes of the second half. UIndy's leading scorer Parker Kump scored twice in that span to fuel the rally.

But with the score 9-8 Rockhurst, the Hawks sniped three goals in the final five-and-a-half minutes to put the game away.

Senior Max Groves led the Hounds defensively, racking up game highs in ground balls (6) and turnovers caused (5). Freshman keeper Austin Barnett amassed 10 saves and a .455 save percentage.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Six Greyhounds got into the scoring column, with Matthew Johnson, Parker Johnson, Kenny Keyes and Matt Schoeneck adding a single tally apiece.
- The Hounds were credited with four assists on their eight goals.
- The teams finished nearly equal in shots (43-41 UIndy), ground balls (29-28 UIndy) and caused turnovers (13-12 UIndy).
