GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The UIndy women's lacrosse team (12-3, 8-2 GLIAC) extended its winning streak to six games on Sunday afternoon, defeating Davenport (3-11, 1-9 GLIAC) in a conference tilt on the penultimate weekend of the regular season. The Hounds led wire to wire after
Abigail Lagos scored the game's opening goal less than three minutes in before winning 19-7.
Delaney Davidson continued her goal-scoring ways in the win, setting a new program record with nine goals, along with tying the mark with 11 points.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lagos and
Lauryn Hardoy scored within 77 seconds of each other in the early going as the Greyhounds took the early advantage. The Panthers scored their second goal of the half to make the score 6-2 after just 14 minutes, but UIndy rattled off seven-unanswered before break. Davidson scored her third goal of the half to make it 8-2, before
Anna Rulapaugh snuck the ball past the Davenport keeper soon after. Davidson scored the final four goals of the half as the Greyhounds led 13-2 at halftime.Â
The second half proved to be more contested, but the Hounds kept the clock running for the duration of the final 30 minutes. UIndy scored the first four goals of the second half, with
Cara Brown and
Hannah Burczyk finding the back of the cage. After Davenport scored three-straight goals with under five minutes remaining, Rulapaugh put an excalamation point on the victory with her second of the game with just 13 seconds on the clock.Â
