INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 10 UIndy men's tennis team earned its ninth sweep of the spring season on Saturday, defeating GLVC-rival Illinois Springfield by the score of 9-0.
Each of the doubles matches were competitive, but the Hounds proved victorious and led 3-0 afterward. No. 32 tandem Rentato Lima and
Andrea Morlet earned a victory over a ranked opponent, defeating No. 23 Sam Clarke and Tommy Martinez, 8-5.
Magnus Mueller and
Christoph Drechsler continued their domination as a duo on Saturday, winning their 19th match of the spring with a 8-4 triumph over Logan Burgess-Hayes and Pete Molloy.
Nils Hoffacker and
Dario Huber have yet to lose as a team, and rounded out the double sweep for the Hounds with an 8-3 win.Â
No. 61 Hoffacker rode the momentum into singles, defeating Burgess-Hayes in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Lima (7-5, 6-2) and Mueller (7-5, 6-2) followed Hoffacker with wins of their own in No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Huber handled business in the No. 4 slot, while
Matteo Videau followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Matej Kostadinov rounded out the Greyhounds' win at No. 5, securing a 6-4, 6-3 win.
The Hounds wrap up the regular season with a conference battle against Southern Indiana next Friday. The contest is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the UIndy Tennis Center.
