Greyhounds drop GLVC title game to Quincy

OZARK, Mo. - The UIndy baseball team (31-23) had its chance at its second GLVC Championship tournament title on Sunday evening, but fell to Quincy iin the final game to close out its regular season with 31 victories. The selection will be live at 10 p.m. ET on NCAA.com. 

UIndy 9, USI 2

The Hounds scored nine straight after the Screaming Eagles plated the first two of the elimination game. UIndy tallied four in the sixth, which began by Storm Joop being hit by a pitch. Macy Holdsworth singled to score Brendan Dudas, before Kyle Orloff extended his program-high RBI total with a sacrifice fly. After Dylan Jones grounded out to Joop, the Hounds scored four in the seventh to put the game out of reach. 

Adam Vasil singled home Joe Kenney in the frame before Holdsworth played Hensley to extend the lead to 6-2. Orloff sinlged and then Holdsworth scored on a ball to the backstop to increase the Greyhound lead, before Dylan Jones forced Vasil home with a knock in the ninth. 

Dylan Stutsman pitched the final four innings, striking out three Eagles to advance to the conference title game. 

Quincy 8, UIndy 4
The Greyhounds trailed 6-0 early as the Hawks pushed across as many runs before Christian Beard closed the door on the Quincy offense in the third and fourth innings. A Decon Hensley single scored Jones in the fourth, but the Hawks pushed across another run in their half of the fifth. 

Joop and Holdsworth reached base to force across another pair of runs before Quincy scored another, but Conor Hensley reached on an error in the ninth to plate Dudas, which made the score 8-4. Reid Werner pitched three shutout innings before Nick Longergan punched out both of the batters he faced in the ninth to hold the Quincy offense. Unfortunately for UIndy, the offense was all out of runs in the second game of the day.

The Greyhounds await their fate in the NCAA Midwest regional, which is announced tonight at 10:30 p.m. on NCAA.com. If not selected, UIndy has played its final game with head coach Gary Vaught at the helm of the program.
