INDIANAPOLIS- Behind three new Greyhounds in the individual rankings, the UIndy Wrestling team jumped six spots from #18 to #12 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Top 25 poll, released Friday.
Greyhound heavyweight
Dylan Faulkenberg headlines the six ranked Hounds, holding his #3 spot.
Brody Conner is ranked sixth at 184, while
Kyle Barkovich comes in at #8 at 149.
Shelden Struble's #11 ranking at 165 is his first of the year, while
Brian Wagner also entered the rankings for the first time this season at #12 at 197.
Heath Lange made his return to the rankings, in the 12-spot at 157.
St. Cloud State, the Greyhounds' Saturday opponent, moved into the #1 spot in the team poll, with Nebraska-Kearney falling to the #2 spot. Notre Dame (OH) comes in at #3, with McKendree and Wheeling Jesuit tied for the four spot to round out the nation's top five teams.
The Greyhounds enter the most grueling portion of their dual schedule this week, with Saturday's dual with #1 St. Cloud kicking off a week in which UIndy will face off with #1 (SCS), #11 (Tiffin), #17 (Ashland) and Findlay, who is receiving votes. The Greyhounds head to Ohio for a dual with the Roughnecks Wednesday, and then play host to Tiffin, Ashland and Davenport next Saturday as a part of the Greyhound Duals.
