INDIANAPOLIS – It was a tale of two halves on Saturday afternoon inside Nicoson Hall, as Lewis (12-3, 4-2 GLVC) flew by the UIndy men's basketball team (10-5, 3-2 GLVC) to snap the Greyhounds' four-game win streak.
Â
It is the second time this season the Flyers topped the Hounds, the first coming on December 1 in Romeoville, Ill.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy shot 60 percent in the first 20 minutes with
Jesse Kempson leading the team with 14 points at the break. The Flyers, however, forced nine turnovers and made 22 field goals to hold a 49-45 lead heading into the locker room.
Â
After a 3-pointer by
Jimmy King gave the Greyhounds a quick lead to open the second half, the Flyers promptly went on a 34-11 run over a 10-minute stretch to put the game out of reach. Sophomore
Trevor Lakes finished with 20 points, including five 3-pointers, for his second straight 20-point game.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Lakes' 20-spot marks the fourth-career game the Lebanon, Ind. native has reached at least 20 points. Saturday is also the third time this season that Lakes has scored 20 or more.
Â
Kempson finished with 16 points in the loss, his fourth-consecutive contest in double figures. Overall, the senior finished six-of-nine from the field, including a pair of made shots from beyond the arc.
Â
Marcus Latham was one of three Hounds to dish out two assists, joining Kempson and
Jimmy King. The junior scored nine points against Lewis.

HOUND BYTES
Head coach
Stan Gouard: "Our starters had no energy. It wasn't just the first half; we gave up 49 points in the first half and then another 50 in the second half. It's not the offense, it's our defense."
Â
"Our leadership was not very good tonight. It was in practice today and yesterday. This is an embarrassing loss for us. We let one guy control the basketball game."
Â
"It's all about effort for us. If we don't have that on Monday, it's going to be the same result."
Â
UP NEXT
UIndy will travel to Rolla, Mo. for a Monday contest against Missouri S&T. Originally scheduled for last Saturday, weather forced the Hounds and Miners into a postponement. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
