SOMERS, Wisc.- The #12 UIndy Wrestling team took its first dual loss in its last five matches, dropping a 21-12 decision to Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday night.
The host Rangers opened the dual with wins at 125 and 133 to jump to the early 6-0 lead before the #12 Greyhounds would answer back with wins at 141 and 149 to tie the dual score at 6-6.
At 141, redshirt senior
Angelo Robles (14-9) took his second win over a ranked opponent in the last week, with a 7-1 win over #7 Nathan Smith.
Kyle Barkovich (11-6) tied the dual with a 6-5 win over Pernevlon Shepperd at 149.Â
After UW-Parkside took a win at 157,
Shelden Struble (17-4) extended his win streak to eight matches with a 4-2 win in SV-1 over Shane Gantz. The Rangers would ice the dual win with decisions at 174 and 197 bookending a pin at 184.Â
Duane Deerwester (7-6) ended the night on a high note for the Greyhounds, wrestling up at heavyweight. The senior earned a 4-3 win over Joe Foret in TB-2, with the Ranger big man outweighing him by almost 100 pounds.
The Hounds have the rest of the weekend off, but return to action Feb. 2-3 in Nicoson Hall. UIndy will host the inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, which will feature a round robin of the league's seven teams over the two days.
