UIndy Greyhounds (9-4, 2-1 GLVC) at Missouri S&T Miners (2-9, 0-3 GLVC)

ON TAP
The UIndy men's basketball takes a three-game winning streak on the road to continue GLVC action this weekend, facing Drury on Thursday evening before heading to Missouri S&T for a Saturday bout.

The Greyhounds have won three of the past four meetings with the Panthers, and have defeated the Miners in each of the last eight contests.

ABOUT DRURY
Do not let the Panthers' 7-7 record fool you: each loss by the Scarlet and Grey has come by six points or less, including two defeats at the hands of top-25 programs.

Since beating Missouri S&T on December 1 in the conference opener, Drury has lost three of its last five, including a pair of GLVC games last weekend to William Jewell and Rockhurst on the road. The Panthers have picked up wins over Southwest Baptist and Newman this season, who compete in the MIAA and Heartland, respectively.

Conley Garrison leads the team with 16.6 points in three GLVC games this season, which ranks in the top 15. The sophomore also ranks second in the conference with 5.7 assists/gm in GLVC contests, while also recording a modest 4.0 rebounds/gm. Andrew Blalock ranks in the top five in the league with 6.7 rebounds per contest, while also scoring 11 points/gm.

Head coach Steve Hesser is in his 15th season in Springfield, and has already racked up more than 300 victories, three GLVC titles, and a NCAA Division II national championship in 2013.

ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
After winning their first two games of the season by an astounding 145 combined points, the Miners have lost their last nine contests to enter the weekend with a 2-9 record. Missouri S&T has yet to defeat an NCAA Division II program this season.

Just like its traveling partner, Missouri S&T has played in a number of close games, having lost eight contests by 10 points or less. The Miners suffered a three-point setback last Thursday at Rockhurst before falling by 15 tallies at William Jewell on Saturday.

CJ Hedgepeth has turned it on since GLVC play began, averaging more than 19 points/gm, which is good for fifth in the conference. The junior transfer is also securing 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per conference contest, proving to be a viable threat for the Miners. Romaine Louiserre is also grabbing 6.0 rebounds in the team's three GLVC contests so far this season.

Head coach Jim Glash is now in his 10th season in Rolla after spending time at Olney Central and Kennedy-King College.

KING KEMPSON
Senior Jesse Kempson is just nine points from becoming the 41st member of the 1,000-point club in UIndy men's basketball history. The Indianapolis native would be the first player since Eric Davidson notched 1,000 career points at Missouri S&T on Feb. 15, 2018.

Kempson currently sits in 29th in program history with 463 career rebounds. Once the forward reaches 1,000 points and 500 rebounds, Kempson will be the 16th player in program history to reach both milestones.

FROM PUMA TO GREYHOUND
Senior CJ Hardaway scored his 1,000th career point on December 1 at Lewis after spending his first two seasons at St. Joseph's College. The Indianapolis native scored 672 points as a Puma, and currently sits at 422 as a Greyhound.

MILESTONE WATCH
Head coach Stan Gouard needs six wins to reach 200 career victories, all with the Greyhounds. Under Gouard, UIndy has recorded at least 16 victories each of the past eight seasons. Gouard is just one wins from matching Harry Good's total of 195, which ranks second in program history.

This marks Gouard's 11th season on the Greyhound bench, making him the third-longest-tenured coach in program history. Good mentored for 15 seasons, while Angus Nicoson coached the Hounds for more than 29 years.

THE LAKES SHOW
Sophomore Trevor Lakes put on a clinic last Thursday in the win over Quincy, finishing with 19 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for his first-career double-double. His 16 boards is the most a Greyhonud has recorded since Brennan McElroy in January 2015.

Since his return from injury on December 17, Lakes is averaging 14.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, including 3.2 three-pointers per contest.

BENCH STEALER
Junior Miles Wayer ranks sixth in the GLVC with 1.33 steals/gm, having recorded four thefts in three conference contests. The McCordsville, Ind. native is also shooting 39.5% from three-point range this season, including 42.9% in the team's three conference contests.

LAST TIME OUT
Leading by as many as 18 midway through the second half, UIndy was forced to fend off Truman in the waning minutes to seal its third straight win. The Greyhounds held the Bulldogs to just 26.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc, and 40.3 percent from the field.

The Hounds used a 31-9 first-half run to lead by 15 late, with Marcus Latham pouring in 11 points during the stretch. UIndy had 20 points in the paint in the first 20 minutes, leading to a 10-point lead at the break.

A three-pointer from Tye Wilburn followed by a layup by Jesse Kempson stretched the Greyhound lead to 18 with 9:23 remaining, but Truman forced seven second-half turnovers to get within 10 with six minutes remaining.

Another Bulldog bucket cut the UIndy lead to just three before Jimmy King sank a baseline jumper with 4:14 on the clock. The Hounds held off the Bulldogs in the final seconds after the visitors got back within a pair, with Hardaway putting the game out of reach with a layup.

MICHIGAN MEN
The UIndy men's basketball team is now 4-0 this season against teams from the state of Michigan. After opening the seasons with triumphs over Northwood and Saginaw Valley, the Hounds toppled Grand Valley State in Allendale before downing Lake Superior State in overtime at Nicoson Hall on November 21.

The four wins over teams from Michigan is the most in program history against the state. The GLIAC schools have combined to start 18-18 this season, with Grand Valley State leading the pack with a 7-2 mark.

HOMEGROWN HOUNDS
UIndy has seven players from the Indianapolis area, including three from within the city limits: CJ Hardaway (Warren Central), Jesse Kempson (Heritage Christian), and Jimmy King (Roncali). Hardaway and Kempson are two leading returners for the Greyhounds this season, combining for 20.9 points, 9.7 boards, and 3.4 assists per game a year ago. King returns for his redshirt-junior campaign after taking a medical redshirt last season.
