INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy student-athlete
Pilar Echeverria added to an already crowded trophy case Thursday, collecting her 14th career GLVC Women's Golf Player of the Week award to break her own conference record. The senior standout and reigning Division II Player of the Year topped a DI field at the University of Kentucky's Bettie Lou Evans Invitational last Sunday.
Â
A native of Guatemala, Echeverria finished at -5 with scores of 70-71-70 to take medalist honors by two strokes. It marked her second career win at a Division I event, as she also took the individual medal at Ohio State last April. She is averaging a stellar 71.3 strokes per round through two events this season.
Â
Echeverria and her teammates next compete at the William Beall Fall Classic in Findlay, Ohio Oct. 7-8.
