Hounds Overwhelm Cardinals, Remain Unbeaten

LIBERTY, Mo. – The 11th-ranked UIndy football team (5-0, 3-0 GLVC) kept its perfect record intact with a decisive 59-7 win at William Jewell College (1-4, 0-3) Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds found the end zone early and often against the overmatched Cardinals, securing their 21st straight conference win.

Junior running back Al McKeller highlighted a slew of standouts for the Hounds, racking up 124 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds continued a trend of hot starts against conference opponents, needing just eight-and-a-half minutes to score three touchdowns. An interception from junior Mitch Dewitt and a 41-yard touchdown rush by McKeller added to the early troubles for the host Cardinals.

UIndy followed with three more TDs in the second quarter to build a 42-0 advantage for the third straight week. The Hounds authored six touchdown drives, including two TDs each from McKeller and Toriano Clinton before Jewell finally got on the board in the final minute of the second quarter.

Defensively, the UIndy stifled the Cardinals to the tune of -22 rushing yards and just 192 total yards overall. The Greyhound defenders consistently applied pressure in the Jewell backfield, amassing eight tackles for a loss, including five sacks, in the first half alone.

The UIndy starters essentially played just one more series after the break, allowing for some valuable playing time for nearly all the Hounds on the travel roster.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- TJ Edwards finished the game 13-of-18 passing for 218 yards and two touchdowns. His longest pass, caught by senior captain Maurice Robinson, went for 59 yards. All told, eight Greyhounds had at least one reception.
- Five UIndy defenders shared the team lead with five tackles apiece.
- Kicker/punter Paul Buisman connected on a 30-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter. It marked his first FG try in three games.
- Three Hounds were credited for 2.0 tackles for a loss, including Gavin Bane, Cory Klem and Alex Parsons.
- Daveon Bell earned a career-best 122 punt return yards, most by a Greyhound since Reece Horn's total of 149 at Lincoln in 2015.
