Greyhounds Sweep Bearcats in First Meeting Since 1992

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy volleyball team (19-8, 10-4 GLVC) kicked off its senior weekend with a commanding sweep over GLVC-newcomer Southwest Baptist (4-26, 0-14 GLVC) on Friday evening inside Ruth Lilly Fitness Center.

Katie Furlong led all attackers with 14 kills on .458 hitting, while Alyssa Spears dished out 36 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds burst out to a 15-7 lead in the opening set, with three kills each from Furlong Emma Jones. Elizabeth Eads came alive late in the frame to knock down the Bearcat comeback with a pair of kills to give UIndy the win.

The offense output slowed down in the second set for UIndy, however, the defense picked up for the home team. MaKenna Barnhart and Gillian Santana each recorded three digs, as the group combined for 12 while holding the Bearcats to just nine kills in the set.

UIndy recorded three of its seven blocks in the final frame, while limiting Southwest Baptist to a measly .061 hitting percentage. Jones and Hannah Huppenbauer tallied the final kills of the set for the sweep.
