Volleyball Earns #7 Seed in Midwest Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time since 2014, the UIndy volleyball team is going dancing.

The Greyhounds earned the No. 7 seed in this year's Midwest Regional field after finishing the regular season and GLVC Championship Tournament with a 21-9 overall record. UIndy claimed victories this season over fellow NCAA Tournament teams Anderson and Saint Leo, as well as Midwest host and top-seed Lewis.

Overall, UIndy played seven matches against the rest of the Midwest Regional field this season.

The Greyhounds will face second-seeded Hillsdale in a regional quarterfinal contest on either Dec. 5 or 6 on the campus of Lewis University.

Four programs from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) earned bids to the tournament field, with league champion Rockhurst (5) and Missouri-St. Louis (3) joining Lewis and UIndy. Ferris State (4), Michigan Tech (6) and Saginaw Valley (8) represent the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), while Hillsdale (2) rounds out the field as the automatic qualifier for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

With the selection into the field, UIndy is one of three NCAA Division II programs that received a bid to the football, volleyball, and men's and women's soccer postseason, as well as sent an athlete to the cross country national championships. Colorado School of Mines and Wingate also earned bids to each of the national events.

Be sure to look for more information on UIndyAthletics.com in the coming days for more postseason coverage of the Greyhounds.
