Wrestling adds Colton Darst through Team IMPACT

INDIANAPOLIS- The University of Indianapolis wrestling program added one more signee during the early signing period Tuesday night, with Colton Darst signing his letter of intent to be a part of the Greyhound wrestling team in the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center.

Darst, a seven-year-old Indianapolis native, comes to the Greyhounds through Team IMPACT.

"We heard about Colton through Team IMPACT, had him in on a visit and knew right away he was a great fit for our program," Head Coach Jason Warthan said. "His energy is infectious and his personality is a great addition to our team. He is a fighter."

Following Coach Warthan's comments, Darst's new teammate Clay Jones spoke on behalf of the program, and then it was time for Colton to officially sign.  After he and Coach Warthan officially signed the letter of intent, Colton took questions from his new teammates as they welcomed him to the program.

Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston, MA that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with University athletic teams, forming lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes. Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched more than 1,900 children with more than 600 colleges and universities in 48 states, reaching over 55,000 participating student athletes. The child joins the athletic team and the student athletes join the child's support team. Throughout the journey, the child gains strength, camaraderie and support while the student athletes experience lessons of courage, resiliency and perspective they can't learn in a classroom.
