SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – The UIndy women's golf team enjoyed a unique opportunity this past week, as the Greyhounds received an invitation to The Battle at the Beach, held at Questro Golf Club in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico Friday through Sunday. The Hounds (311-302-292) finished in 14th place among the otherwise all-DI field.
The 16-team field represented perhaps the toughest ever faced by the Hounds, one that included 10 of the top 55 ranked teams in Division I and four of the top 20.
UIndy improved its team score each day at the 54-hole event, capped by a four-over 292 in Sunday's final round. Reigning DII Player of the Year
Pilar Echeverria (77-72-72) led the way by sharing 28th in the 87-woman field.
After a carding an opening-round 77, Echeverria ended her tournament with back-to-back 72s to post a 54-hole score of 221. She was followed by junior
Anna Kramer (78-74-73), whose final-round score of +1 moved her up to a tie for 47th.
Freshman
Hunter Nugent (77-81-72) fired an even-par 72 Sunday to share 59th, while freshman
Katelyn Skinner (85-75-76) and sophomore
Cailyn Henderson (79-83-75) finished in 73rd and 75th, respectively.
