KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior
Taylor Jacquay posted eight kills on .333 hitting, but ultimately it was the No. 20 Rockhurst (23-6, 11-1 GLVC) attack that proved too much for the UIndy volleyball team (17-8, 8-4 GLVC) on Friday evening.
Â
Four Greyhounds attacked at a minimum .333 clip with four kills, but the Hawks hit .301 as a team in the sweep.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
After trading points in the early going, the Hawks pulled away to grab the one-set advantage on the heels of a 17-7 run to cap the frame.
Â
A kill from
Emma Jones midway through the second gave the Greyhounds a 14-10 lead to force a Hawks timeout, however, UIndy once again fell victim to a long Rockhurst run to close out the set.
Hannah Huppenbauer secured a kill to make it 24-22, but it was too late for UIndy as the teams headed to the third.
Â
A seven-point run to give the Greyhounds a 21-18 lead looked to hold before the Hawks ran off another series of points.
Alyssa Spears tallied her fourth kills of the night to give UIndy set point, but Rockhurst matched the Greyhound effort before Karli Reichert scored three straight after a Jones' putaway to finish off the sweep.
