INDIANAPOLIS – After an emphatic performance against Division I opponent Butler on Friday, the Greyhounds trekked back into the UIndy Tennis Center through the snow to match up against DI opponent Eastern Illinois. The Greyhounds took over the tough fight, as UIndy swept Eastern Illinois.
The Greyhounds kicked off the game with winning all three doubles matches. The #16 duo of
Maja Pindelska and
Hanna Volikova finished first on their score of 6-2. The team of
Chloe Weihs and
Anna Valiaeva were the next to close their match, ending the score 7-5. The #4 squad of
Nikol Alexeeva and
Anya Novikova were the final duo to finish, taking down their Panther opponent 7-6.
Singles provided several tight matches between the two teams, but the Greyhounds came through and didn't give up a single point. #4 Volikova was the first to knock out her opponent, 6-2, 6-0. Pindelska made quick work of her Panther opponent as well, taking the duel 6-2, 6-2.
Pam Brito Torres came into the competition and was the next Greyhound to take a win, 6-2, 6-1.
#19 Alexeeva was given the number one slot for this matchup, and she asserted her dominance with a thrilling 6-0, 7-5 victory. Novikova attacked quickly and it proved well, as she ended her singles match 6-0, 7-6. Valiaeva was the final Greyhound to secure a victory, as the battle finished 6-4, 6-2.
The Greyhounds will pack their rackets and travel to DePauw on Wednesday. The matchup in Greencastle, Indiana commences at 4:30 PM.
