GREENCASTLE, IN- The #10 UIndy women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the young season with a 9-0 sweep of DePauw Wednesday evening.
The #16 duo of
Hanna Volikova and
Maja Pindelska took the first team point of the match with an 8-1 win at two doubles, with the one doubles tandem of
Nikol Alexeeva and
Anya Novikova coming in with an 8-0 win for the second team point.
Chloe Weihs and
Anna Valiaeva closed out the three doubles points with an 8-4 win in the three spot.
Volikova, D2's #4 singles player, was the first to finish in singles, taking a 6-0, 6-1 win playing in the two spot. Valiaeva was the team's clinching point, notching a 6-1, 6-3 win at five singles. Novikova was next to finish, taking a three-set victory 4-6, 6-0, 10-3 at three singles.
Alexeeva came away with her one singles match 6-0, 6-0, followed by Pindelska's 6-1, 6-0 victory at four singles.
Pam Brito Torres closed out the sweep with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) victory at the six singles spot.
The Greyhounds face another Division III opponent Friday, as they will travel to Lexington, Ky. to take on Tusculum.
