LEXINGTON, Ky.- The #9 UIndy tennis team played its third match in a week Friday afternoon, facing off with Tusculum in Lexington.
UIndy (4-0) took the doubles point behind wins at all three positions. Two doubles was the first to finish, with the pair of
Renato Lima and
Magnus Mueller coming in with a 6-3 win. Three doubles was the next in for the Hounds, with
Nils Hoffacker and
Ariel Farji posting a 6-1 win. The #6 tandem of
Matej Kostadinov and
Dario Huber completed the sweep at #1 with a 6-3 win.
Hoffacker was the first Greyhound to notch a point in singles play, taking a 6-2, 6-3 win in the three spot. Huber also took a 6-2, 6-3 win at #2, making it 3-0 UIndy. Mueller played in the #4 singles slot, and after a 2-6 loss in the first set, the senior came back with 6-0, 6-2 scores in sets two and three to take the win and clinch the Greyhound win.
#5 Lima fell in three sets in the one spot, 2-6, 6-0, 6-7. Farji and Kostadinov also took three set losses at five and six singles, with Farji falling 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 and Kostadinov dropping his match 4-6, 6-0, 8-10.
The Greyhounds return home to the UIndy Tennis Center Monday for a match versus crosstown Butler. First serve is slated for 5 p.m.
