INDIANAPOLIS – In front of one of their biggest crowds of the season for Senior Day, the UIndy women's basketball team welcomed the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons to Nicoson Hall. The Hounds celebrated two student-athletes along with a senior manager and athletic trainer, capped off their careers for the Greyhounds with a win over the Tritons, 66-63.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds got off to a fast start by scoring the first five points of the game. UMSL struggled to get going early on, the Hounds were able to hold the Tritons to 28.6% shooting in the first quarter. UIndy was very aggressive in the early going, getting to the foul line to shoot eight free throws in the opening quarter as the Hounds took a 18-11 lead into the second quarter. UMSL was able to find their shooting in the second quarter, shooting 8-for-15 from the field. UIndy was able to force turnovers as well as deny many Triton attempts. Tallying five blocks in the first half as well as forcing four UMSL turnovers compared to their three.

The Greyhounds opened the second half on a tear, outscoring UMSL 9-2 before the Tritons took a timeout. The Hounds came out of the timeout and responded with a layup to push their lead to 12. UMSL cut the UIndy lead down to five but the Hounds came right back and went up eight heading into the final quarter. The Tritons stormed back in the final quarter, cutting it all the way down to just a single-point UIndy lead in the final minute. The Tritons started to foul trying to give themselves a chance late but
Laura Thomas stepped up to the line with confidence in the final seconds, knocking down all four free throws to seal the win for the Hounds.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Emma Benoit went for her seventh double-double of the season today, finishing with 15 points and 11 boards. The junior transfer also set a career-high with five blocks, all coming in the first half.
-The Greyhounds turned the ball over 11 times to the Tritons. The 11 turnovers is their second-fewest in a GLVC game this season.
-UIndy cut down on their personal fouls for the second time in three games they held their opponent under 10 free throw attempts for an entire game.

The Hounds are back on the road to close out the season. They return to action next Thursday in Evansville when they face Southern Indiana at 6:30 pm.
