INDIANAPOLIS- The #13 Greyhounds headed to West Virginia for the NCAA Division 2 Super Regional 3 at West Liberty University. The Greyhounds finished second in the regional with six wrestlers moving on to the National Championships in Cleveland, Ohio.

133: Redshirt Sophomore Ana Abduljelil punched his second ticket to the national championships with a second place finish. In the quarterfinal, Abduljelil (17-9) won by decision over Mike Stewart of Findlay by decision 3-2. Abduljelil won in SV-1 in the semifinal over Hunter Bray of Notre Dame (OH) 3-1. Wrapping up his day, Abduljelil fell in the 1st place match 3-0 to #1 Tyler Warner of Wheeling Jesuit. 

141: Redshirt Senior #11 Angelo Robles fought hard in a true third match to qualify for his first national championships. In the quarterfinal, Robles won by decision over DeAndre Reed of West Liberty, 2-0. Heading into the semifinals, Robles fell to #5 Jared Donahue of Wheeling Jesuit 7-3. The loss pushed Robles into the consolation bracket where he defeated #12 Chandler Minnard of Ashland in tie breaker-1, 2-1. Robles punched his ticket in the third place match winning by fall in 4:34 over Ryan Skonieczny of Findlay. 

157: Redshirt Senior #12 Heath Lange qualified for his third and final trip to nationals. In the quarterfinal, Lange won by decision over Dylan Taylor of Wheeling Jesuit 8-4. Heading into the semifinal, Lange won by fall in 1:44 over Cole Houser of Urbana. Lange ended his day in second place with a loss to James Wimer of Findlay 7-2

  165: Senior #6 Shelden Struble also qualified for his third and final trip to the National Championship. In the quarterfinal, Struble pinned Dylan Knotts of Urbana in 1:13. In the semifinal, Struble narrowly escaped Sean O'Hearon of Lake Erie winning by decision 3-2. In the finals, Struble met up with returning 165 National Champion #8 Bret Romanzak of Ashland. Struble lost in sudden victory-1, 4-2.

184: Redshirt junior #12 Brody Conner wrestled his way to a second place finish to qualify for his second trip to the National Championship. In the quarterfinal, Conner defeated Daniel Beemer of Ashland, 5-1. Heading into the semifinal, Conner defeated #8 Hayden Bronne of Tiffin by decision 3-2. In his first place match, Conner fell to Notre Dame's (OH) #7 Tony Vezzetti 10-3.

197:  In an energetic match, Redshirt Senior Brian Wagner wrestled his way to a third place finish and his first trip to the National Championships. In the quarterfinal, Wagner fell to Logan Hall of Notre Dame (OH) 3-2. In the Cons. Round 2, Wagner pinned Brett Bryant of Bellarmine in 1:36. Continuing his fight to the championship, Wagner won by major decision, 10-0, over Trevor Hankins of Urbana. In the consolation semifinals, Wagner pinned Greg Brusco of Wheeling Jesuit in 1:32 to secure his spot in the third place match. Wagner met up with Logan Hall of Notre Dame (OH) for the second time during the regional and defeated Hall 12-3.

Ending his career as a Greyhound, Redshirt Senior D.J. Smith placed 6th overall in the 125 bracket. Number three Dylan Faulkenberg also ended his career as a Greyhound placing 5th in heavyweight. Both seniors had five outstanding years as Greyhounds.

Number 12 Redshirt sophomore Kyle Barkovich placed fifth in the 149 bracket while freshman Gleason Mappes finished 4th in his first regional appearance.

The Greyhounds will be back in action at the Division 2 National Championship in Cleveland, Ohio March 8 and 9.
