INDIANAPOLIS – Twenty-seven UIndy student-athletes will represent the university at the 2019 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, set for March 13-16 at the IU Natatorium in downtown Indianapolis. Twenty-three swimmers will race in the national meet, while divers
Cassie Kury,
Benjamin Rader,
Payton Staman and
Josh Zylstra will compete in the pre-qualifying events March 12.
Â
Qualifying on the men's side for the Hounds are
Rodrigo Codo Berti,
TJ LeSeure,
Cody Liske,
Antonio Milin,
Adam Rosipal,
Guilherme Zavaneli and
Jan Zuchowicz. Invitees from the UIndy women's team include
Melanie Arnold,
Laura Boardman,
Krystal Caylor,
Izzi Clark,
Darian Murray,
Sasha Shatskikh,
Edda Skoric,
Kirsten Votava and
Danielle Wood.
Â
In addition to the qualifiers, the Hounds will be bringing seven relay-only swimmers to Nationals, including
Victor Antonon,
Vitor Botana,
Stefanie Haholiades,
Alaina Joyce,
Maddisen Lantz,
Ante Lucev and
Kael Yorke.
Â
Our men's team has a lot of experience coming back, as well as some fresh faces," said Head Coach
Jason Hite. "Combined that with the potential relay and diving power, it should make for another success run at Nationals."
Â
Hite continued: "On the women's side, this is the biggest team we've brought the Nationals (since Hite took over in 2015-16). To have nine qualifiers speaks volumes on the direction this program is heading, and with Cassie on the boards, we have a double-digit number of student-athletes with a chance to score points for us."
Â
Two Greyhound women recorded top-eight times in Division II this season, with
Edda Skoric's A-cut time of 1:55.80 in the 200 back good for second and
Darian Murray's 200 butterfly mark of 2:01.20 good for seventh. The UIndy men combined for eight top-eight times, highlighted by
Adam Rosipal's Division II-leading time of 15:13.73 in the 1650 free.
