INDIANAPOLIS- In a battle of the NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III #9 ranked teams, the UIndy Greyhounds came out on top Saturday, 5-2 over visiting WashU at the UIndy Tennis Center.
In the fight for the doubles point, UIndy's three doubles squad took the first win, with
Ariel Farji and
Nils Hoffacker pairing up for a 6-1 win. After the Bears took a 6-3 win at one doubles, the Greyhounds' two doubles tandem of
Magnus Mueller and
Renato Lima took a 7-6 win to secure the doubles point for the Hounds.
Lima, currently ranked #5 in Division II, made quick work of Division III #32 Bernardo Neves at one singles, coming away with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Hoffacker, #32 in Division II in the singles listings, accounted for the third UIndy point with a 6-3, 6-1 win at three singles.
Dario Huber came away with point number four for the home team, with a 7-5, 6-1 win in the two singles spot. After the Bears took a three-set win at four singles,
Matej Kostadinov clinched the Greyhound win with a 7-6, 6-2 win at six singles. WashU took the five singles match, with Farji forcing both sets to an extra game.
The Greyhounds travel to DePauw Wednesday for a 4:30 match with the Tigers, and will head to Tusculum next Friday.
