SAN ANTONIO- The #10 UIndy women's tennis team came away with a rain-soaked upset of #4 Hawaii Pacific Wednesday, with the victory good for the squad's tenth straight to start the season.
Hanna Volikova and
Maja Pindelska took a 6-1 win at two doubles to start the match, with
Chloe Weihs and
Anna Valiaeva posting a 6-4 win at three doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Hounds (10-0) and leave the one doubles match unfinished.
After a five singles win by the Sharks to lock the team score at 1-1, Valiaeva came away with a 6-3, 6-0 win at six singles. #4 Volikova then won 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) to push the score to 3-1 in the Hounds' favor. Pindelska secured the Greyhound upset with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win at four singles.
Both two singles and three singles were left unfinished in the third set after the clinching point from Pindelska.
UIndy will try to get another match in tomorrow versus St. Edwards, and faces off with #14 Midwestern State Friday before closing out its Spring Break trip versus Cameron Saturday.
