UIndy salvaged a split behind a solid pitching performance from junior
Lauren Honkomp (8-2). The veteran hurler tossed her first shutout of the season, whirling a four-hitter while striking out six and walking only one. It marked her second complete-game win of the weekend and sixth pitching victory in as many decisions.
UIndy got the majority of its runs in the fourth. A 0-0 tie was broken when a
Taylor Podschweit single and a subsequent error plated two UIndy runs. Later in the inning,
Gianni Iannantone drove in two more with a double to left.
Iannantone added another RBI in the sixth on a two-out single. Podschweit had three hits on the day, as did sophomore
Sydnie Foster.
