O'FALLON, ILL.- The #19 UIndy Men's Tennis team opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play Saturday with a 7-0 sweep of McKendree.
Renato Lima and
Magnus Mueller struck first at two doubles, taking a 6-1 victory at two doubles, while
Nils Hoffacker and
Ariel Farji clinching the doubles point with a 6-1 win at three doubles. The #4 duo of
Matej Kostadinov and
Dario Huber also took a win at one doubles, with a 6-3 score.
Huber was the first to claim a singles point for the Hounds (8-4), taking a 6-1, 6-2 win at three singles, with Hoffacker coming through with the third UIndy point with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #2. No. 3 Lima clinched the Greyhound win at #1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win.
The rest of the singles matches were played out, with Max Witthaus the next to finish with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 three-set victory, while Mueller took a 6-0, 6-2 win at five singles. Kostadinov closed out the 7-0 sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win at six singles.
UIndy will host Bellarmine Saturday at Center Grove High School, and will honor their seniors prior to the match. The Greyhounds will then head to Western Michigan for a Sunday match with the DI Bronchos.
