O'FALLON, Ill.- The newly-#2 UIndy women's tennis team opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play Saturday at McKendree, taking a 7-0 win over the host Bearcats to push its record to 14-0 on the season.
Anna Valiaeva and
Maja Pindelska took the first doubles win, with a 6-1 decision in the three spot.
Hanna Volikova and
Alina Kislitskaya were reunited on the doubles court for the first time in nearly a year at two doubles, posting a 6-1 victory. to lock the doubles point for the Hounds. The #4 duo of
Nikol Alexeeva and
Anya Novikova completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win in the top doubles spot.
Aleexeva, ranked #5 on the singles court, took a 6-0, 6-0 win in the one position. Novikova took a 6-1, 6-0 win at three singles, with #6 Volikova clinching the team win with a 6-0, 6-0 singles win at #2.
Pindelska was the next in at four singles, also winning 6-0, 6-0, while Kislitskaya continued the shutout run with a 6-0, 6-0 win at five singles.
Chloe Weihs closed out the singles competition with a win by default. When all was said and done, the Greyhounds surrendered just one game in 10 singles sets.
UIndy continues GLVC play next weekend, hosting Bellarmine at Center Grove High School,. The Greyhounds will also honor their seniors Saturday prior to the match.
