INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 20 UIndy softball team (22-8, 5-3 GLVC) had a successful – if not wet – Sunday at Baumgartner Field, handing visiting Truman State University (13-6, 3-5) two losses. The Greyhounds got in a 8-3 victory before the rains came, then earned a soggy 7-3 come-from-behind win in the capper.

UIndy jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first. Six Hounds reached base in the frame, with
Gianni Iannantone (groundout) and
Haylie Foster (single) providing the RBIs.
Â
Trailing 3-0 in the third, the Bulldogs got on the board with a two-run homer from reigning GLVC Player of the Year Christa Reisinger, but UIndy answered right back in the next half inning when senior
Shannon Schuetz blasted a two-run bomb of her own. She later had a two-run double and would finish the weekend with seven hits.
Â
Reisinger had another home run in the seventh but also had one robbed by center fielder
Sydnie Foster in the fifth.

Sophomore pitcher
Halie Waters (11-4) got the win in the complete-game effort. She scattered eight hits and two walks while fanning nine.

Pitchers
Lauren Honkomp (4 1/3 innings) and Waters (2 2/3) combined to beat the Bulldogs. Honkomp (9-3) got the start and the win, while Waters earned her first save of the season.
Â
