MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – The UIndy women's golf team continued its tough spring schedule this week, competing at the championship-caliber Barry University Invite Monday and Tuesday. In a field at featured 13 of the nation's top-25-ranked teams and six top-10 squads, the Greyhounds (302-297-297) finished in 12th place, while junior
Pilar Echeverria tied her own school record for lowest 54-hole score.
Â
Echeverria improved every round at the two-day tournament, starting with an even-par 72 in the first round. The Guatemala native followed that with a three-under 69 and finished with a four-under 68. The result was a runner-up finish at -7, matching her own 54-hole program record set at the UIndy Invitational last fall.
Â
But it wasn't quite enough to catch Barry's Josefina Foa Torres (68-71-68), who finished two strokes ahead of Echeverria at -9 to take medalist honors and lead her Buccaneers to the team title.
Â
The other Greyhounds were less consistent, however. Sophomore
Anna Kramer (75-78-75) was the next-closest Hound, as her three-round score +12 was good for a share of 47th place. Senior
Katharina Keilich (75-74-80) tied for 53rd, senior
Kennedy Holtsclaw (80-76-77) shared 66th and freshman
Cailyn Henderson (87-81-77) placed 83rd.
