CLEVELAND – With solid showings in five recently-completed winter championships, the University of Indianapolis climbed to 16th in the latest Learfield IMG Directors' Cup Division II standings, released Thursday. The Greyhounds skyrocketed nearly 100 spots, jumping from 104th after the final fall standings into the top 20.
 
Adding to the total of 53 points attained by a second-round playoff appearance by its football team in the fall, UIndy racked up a combined 245.5 points from men's swimming & diving (3rd at the NCAA Championships), women's indoor track & field (13th), women's swimming & diving (15th), men's indoor track & field (46th) and wrestling (46th). As of this update, UIndy's winter point total is good for the fourth-highest sum by any Division II institution.
 
UIndy's current overall score of 298.5 points puts it in first among its fellow GLVC schools, including McKendree University (201.0 pts, 35th), Drury University (195.0, 39th) and Lewis University (1852.75, 48th). Grand Valley State sits in first place with 626.0 points.
 
The Greyhounds have finished in the top 20 in the Directors' Cup standings for the last 12 years, including a ninth-place showing in 2017-18.
 
The Learfield IMG Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports – seven women's and seven men's. A final winter update will be released April 4, and later the 2018-19 final standings are set to drop on June 12.
